Why do I need to have a low fibre diet the day before the SIBO test?

You need to have a low fibre diet the day before the test to starve the bacteria in your small intestine.

A low fibre diet the day before is important as it minimises non-absorbable carbohydrates (starches and sugars).

The SIBO prep diet specifically cuts out plant products and sugars to starve the bacteria for the day before the test. This gives the most accurate results.

If you eat the wrong foods, the bacteria may not react during the test, leading to false-negative results. Keep it simple and stick to the few foods we recommend.

Remember this is just one day so you can get the answers you need for your health.
