What's the difference between carbohydrate malabsorption and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)?
SIBO and carbohydrate malabsorption are different, but SIBO can cause carbohydrate malabsorption.
If you want to find out if you have carbohydrate intolerance, you could ask your GP to test you, or start with a SIBO test from us.
SIBO is a common cause of carbohydrate intolerance because the bacteria growing in your small intestine love to eat carbohydrates and when they do, they give off gases that cause your symptoms.
If you do have SIBO, you may find that once you address it and tackle its root causes, you'll be able to tolerate carbohydrates again.
