- Intestinal Permeability (Leaky Gut) Test
How long do I need to fast to take the Leaky Gut Test?
You don't need to fast for the entire test period of the Leaky Gut Test.
You need to fast for:
- 3 hours before the test, and
- for the first 2 hours of the test itself
This is to ensure the maximum amount of PEG solution passes through the intestines without binding to anything, and allows enough time for the solution to permeate.
By then end of the the first 2 hours, most of the PEG solution would be passing through the gut wall so it's fine to eat and drink at that point.
